A Rainbow-Hued Wedding at the Tree of Life in Audubon Park in New Orleans, Louisiana

Jazmin and Jessica chose a vibrant rainbow color palette for their wedding the Tree of Life in Audubon Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. "Our love story inspired our wedding day," explains the couple. "Our story was a whirlwind, a true adventure with unexpected twists and turns. We wanted our day to demonstrate that, while also reflecting our softer, more intimate, and sweet romantic side. Most importantly we wanted it to be fun, share our excitement, and our joy!"

"After the excitement of our engagement settled in, we began to slowly dream up our wedding day! We didn’t really have a theme per se, more like a vibe and our wedding planner quickly went to work bringing this vibe to life. We are two brides, we wanted our day to highlight our unique personalities and styles. We wanted our day to feel alive, for our family and friends to feel our literal love overflowing. We wanted to create a community experience that wasn’t about the frills but about the celebration itself. We didn’t want your conventional wedding day. We wanted to be bold and unique. Our style was nature-inspired, (Jazmin’s love for the outdoors and nature and Jessica’s engagement ring—a non-traditional emerald cut emerald ring). We both wanted an elegant affair with pops of bright emerald green, fuchsia, tangerine, and hints of gold," explains the couple.

"We had several unique touches throughout our day that reflected our individual personalities," recalls the couple. "We both agreed that we didn't want the traditional wedding party. Instead, we gathered our nearest and dearest friends to form 'The Fellowship of the Ring,' as we affectionately came to call them, consisting of close friends and family. A special addition to our day was our wedding officiant, who is also Jessica’s best friend and the one person that had been a witness and constant support for both of us since the very beginning of our dating adventure. We also added a madrina to our wedding. Madrinas are like the fairy godparent of Latinx weddings. Madrinas sponsor certain aspects of the wedding and are there to offer the couple advice as they enter into marriage. In our case, neither of our parents were present at our wedding and so having our madrina there was very important to us. We may not be able to choose our parents, but we got to choose our madrina. This was very important to Jazmin, as it is an honor to be chosen and customary in Dominican culture to have a wedding madrina. Lastly, we had a special guest and presence throughout our day. Jessica’s grandmother was with us every step of the way. She had a reserved seat at the ceremony and also walked down the aisle with Jessica as represented by a broach on her bouquet."

"New Orleans made it possible to have the wedding of our dreams! We couldn’t have chosen a more magical city," recalls the couple. "We walked down the aisle and exchanged vows in front of the Tree of Life at Audubon Park in a very unique half-moon seating arrangement covered in bright beautiful floral arrangements. One of the most breathtaking and indescribable moments in our wedding day was walking down the aisle, surrounded by a womb of love by our people! It was indescribable! It was a beautiful testament of community showing up for our family and for bearing witness to our love and fortifying our spirits."
