A Refined Terrace Wedding at Piedmont Park Greystone in Atlanta, Georgia

Less than two days after Grace Williams (23 and a social worker) moved to Austin, she met Sam Dowd (26 and an insurance advisor and personal trainer) in an elevator. The pair started chatting and when Sam learned she was new in town, he offered to be her tour guide. The couple likes to think that Texas brought them together so it only seemed fitting for Sam to propose in front of a University of Texas landmark. "On my 23rd birthday, after Sam treated me to a massage and an amazing dinner, he surprised me with a 'birthday' stay at a hotel," says Sam. "Sam led me out on the balcony of our room, which overlooked University Avenue and faced north toward the UT tower—I thanked him for giving me such an amazing birthday and he told me it wasn't over yet and then got down on one knee!" Grace and Sam decided to get married in Georgia and searched for a venue in the bride's hometown of Atlanta that would provide a natural setting while still giving their out-of-town guests a true city experience. Piedmont Park Greystone was the perfect fit with an outdoor terrace space and elegant indoor reception. To achieve a classic, the couple worked with a timeless blush pink, charcoal gray and ivory color scheme as well as soft hydrangea and peony arrangements. "My late grandfather's favorite flower was hydrangea so many of our floral arrangements, including the bridesmaids' bouquets, the table centerpieces, the ceremony chair decor and the ceremony arch, consisted of hydrangeas," says Grace. "Although my grandfather could not physically be at our wedding, the hydrangeas in our floral arrangements reminded me and Sam that he was with us in spirit." Guests enjoyed classic Atlanta fare during the traditional southern celebration as well as late-night petite chicken biscuits after an evening of dancing.
