A Regal Black-and-White Palette Dazzled at This Bradford Estate Wedding in New Jersey

Inspired by their estate venue's white-and-gold reception space, college sweethearts Tiana Wilson and Naeem Johnson, "wanted a classic wedding that exuded elegance but we also wanted to ensure that we could make the room ours. We added touches of black and gold to add to our theme and I made the flower arrangements highlight the classic feel by asking our florist for all white flower arrangements with green foliage. Our parties wore all black while I, of course, wore white and my groom wore a white and black jacket as well. We were the only people in the room wearing white so we really stood out! Naeem and I are both African American and it was very important for us to incorporate our culture into every moment. We had Tabitha Design and create a beautiful broom that we used to jump over at the end of our ceremony. Paying homage to our ancestors who could not legally marry due to the institution of slavery was a highlight of our day. Without them, there could be no us!" Tiana says.
In addition to an elegant black, white and gold aesthetic, the couple, "put a huge emphasis on the music for our big day. Our favorite part of the wedding was the party! We have large families and lots of friends so it was the first time we had everyone in the same room together. The combination of family, friends, an amazing DJ and lots of love made the dance floor the place to be," Tiana recalls. She goes on to share this advice for current to-be-weds: "Always remember that the day is about your love and your love only. Do not let anything that happens during the planning process affect your day negatively. Your wedding day will be the best day ever because it is a celebration of your love!"
