For Livia Veselka (29) and Mike Cornelius (31), it was love at first sight. A few weeks after their first date, "Mike asked me to 'go steady' while we watched the sunset on a beach," says Livia. Seven years later, Mike proposed in front of the couple’s Christmas tree with their Chihuahua, Maximus, beside them. “Neither Mike nor I wanted a large wedding, and we both felt that an intimate elopement suited us best,” says Livia. “We thought: Where better to get married than Vegas?” The couple traveled from Canada to Nevada to have a drive-through wedding ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel, which they selected for its rich history and lighthearted, quintessentially Vegas atmosphere. They rented a ‘65 convertible -- a dream car for both of them -- and planned their wedding in secret. Their nuptials blended modern Las Vegas with an eclectic, classic mix of vintage rock-and-roll, 1950s class and 1970s bohemian. “On all accounts, it was a day that reflected our mutual love of days gone by,” says the bride. Livia offers advice to future couples: “Make your wedding day your own. There is an overwhelming number of options out there for all elements of a wedding, which allows you to customize your day so that it feels truly personal. Plan a wedding that celebrates you, and make it one that you’ll want to relive over and over again.”

Livia and Mike cruised along the Las Vegas strip as the sun set. “Funnily enough, we were stopped often by tourists wanting to snap our photo!” says the bride. “Perhaps we nailed the classic vintage Vegas wedding look all too well?”
Livia and Mike had a small and meaningful ceremony to mark a new chapter in their relationship. “We opted for an elopement with no guests because we both wanted our ceremony and our exchange of vows to be just between us,” says Livia.
“We both prefer a style that blends modern elements with throwback and classic pieces, so we opted for wedding day attire that reflected this overall style.” Mike wore a gray, three-piece suit with sterling silver cuff links made with the wooden pieces from the old seats in the Toronto Maple Leafs' arena.
Livia wore a short white dress with a keyhole back with tall black boots and knee-high socks for a vintage, bohemian look.
