A Retro Outdoor Wedding at a 1940's Hacienda-style Mansion in Palm Springs, California
Georgia Howe (30 and a digital & innovation strategy director from London) and Drew Norton (30 and a director in New York) met on a commercial shoot for Bailey's Irish Creme in 2007 where the two actually collided into one another on the last day of shooting and got to talking. Conveniently having taken some vacation days, Georgia was able to stay in the states a few days longer where she and Drew immediately fell for one another. After 5 years of moving back and forth between New York and London, Drew proposed with the diamond and sapphire vintage art deco ring Georgia had 'favorited' on Etsy. During their two month engagement, the couple chose to hold their wedding in Palm Springs, California to give their friends and family a vacation. The brides family spent a week in the mansion where the wedding was held while the grooms family rented a 1950's estate just around the corner. With help from friends and family, Georgia and Drew created an outdoor retro vibe for the ceremony and reception in the backyard of the home. Set to bold reds and greens, the yard was decorated with vintage Eames chairs and mahogany tables and rented chairs from an LA prop house to fully embrace the classic Palm Springs look. Pineapples matching the invitations could be found throughout the reception as a historical symbol of British and American friendship."Oversized flowers from a specialty florist in NYC gave an Alice In Wonderland effect to our entrance, and I hand-painted the signposts directing guests." Georgia said. "I also made stars and stripes and union jack bunting to hang outside the home to reflect our international union."
