A Retro Vintage Wedding at the Hellenic Community Center in Ipswich, Massachusetts

Brittany Molloy (27 and in non-profit fundraising) met Matt Kenney (29 and in sales) at a local DIY music venue in Boston called Star Lab. A friend of Brittany’s had dragged her out on a cold December night to see another friend play music and, as luck would have it, Matt was also there that night seeing the same band. They bumped into each other several times throughout the night and exchanged numbers, but then, Matt didn’t call Brittany for two weeks! Eventually he followed up, and braved a snowstorm for their first date. They have been together ever since, and return to the Star Lab regularly. After a night out in Boston, Matt took Brittany Magnolia, Massachusetts and proposed on the rocky shoreline. Since the couple met, fell in love and started their life in Boston, they decided they wanted to get married someplace close to their home. Matt is from Cape Ann, so the couple got married there near the sea and lush green landscapes. “We knew we would have many out-of-town guests, so we really wanted to find a place that would showcase the beauty and nostalgia of a New England summer,” says Brittany. the Hellenic Community Center in Ipswich, Massachusetts was able to provide an antique Georgian-style mansion on rustic, manicured grounds for the couple’s wedding day. The couple’s wedding took place on July 5th, so they chose a color palette of cherry red and robin’s egg blue, a retro nod to Independence Day the day before. As a recurring touch throughout the ceremony and reception, the couple incorporated red gingham to embody the nostalgic summer vibe and vintage retro theme. “We wanted our ceremony to be a true representation of us as a couple and to really showcase how we feel about each other, so we decorated the space with cute little personal touches and wrote our own vows,” says Brittany. Following the emotional ceremony, the party started, and guests danced to a seven-piece band all night. The couple left the venue to a sparkler send-off in Matt’s father’s retro Fiat convertible.
