It doesn't get more old-world-glam than NYIT de Seversky Mansion on Long Island's Gold Coast, making it the perfect setting for Jessica Jakobson (29 and an event planner) and Christopher Furino's (33 and an agronomist and horticulturist) Art Deco inspired soiree. "The 1920’s have always inspired me. There is just something so romantic about the Golden Age," says Jessica. Every detail incorporated the couple's Art Deco theme—from the stationery, to the gold sequin tablecloths, to the wedding cake finished with a cascade of vintage gold fans. An event planner herself, and owner of Jessica Jakobson Events, Jessica took care of the day's planning, while she relied on Diane Ringrose of Petals to provide the lush, fall-inspired florals and Cly Creation to capture every gorgeous moment. The best part? As a nod to Jessica and Christopher's shared affection for skulls, Christopher accessorized his traditional tuxedo with custom skull and crossbones shoes, a skull patterned pocket square and pearl skull cufflinks. ?We love formal weddings with personality! Wondering how they pulled it all off? From Jessica: "We made a rule that during our engagement we would have one date night a week where we would go out to dinner and not talk about the wedding at all. It really helped us so much! It was so nice just to be able to really connect with Chris during the engagement, and actually enjoy the engagement and each other during our nights out."

"I wanted my wedding dress to have a vintage feel to go with our Art Deco themed wedding," explains Jessica. "After searching high and low, I finally found a gorgeous Allure Bridals gown with a v-neck and a very small train." Her dress had a silk cappuccino slip covered by a sheer overlay with delicate crystal embellishments.
Burgundy Amaranthus, Dahlia and Hydrangea Flower Arrangements
"Black calla lilies are my favorite flower so I knew I wanted them in my bouquet,"" says Jessica. She carried a lush bouquet of black calla lilies, burgundy dahlias, hypericum berries and peach roses. Burgundy hanging amaranthus added major drama and romance to the rich arrangement.
Inspired by the couple's love for skulls, Chris wore skull cufflinks and a pocket square by Alexander McQueen and custom Del Toro skull shoes.

"We did not want a traditional venue, so I immediately thought of the de Seversky Mansion on Long Island near my childhood home," says Jessica. "It is an incredible 1920s Gold Coast Mansion which was perfect for our Art Deco theme."

"The wedding arch was very important to us, as we would be standing under it during the most important part of the wedding," says Jessica. "Chris loves the natural aesthetic of birch trees and moss, and I have a more 'over-the-top-romantic' aesthetic." To accommodate both of their styles, Jessica and Christopher told their florist they wanted 'an arch dripping in burgundy amaranthus, dahlias and roses' for Jessica, with birch and moss for Christopher. "She executed our vision perfectly!" recalls Jessica.
Jessica and Christopher were married in a completely non-denominational wedding ceremony, officiated by two of their best friends. The ceremony included readings from "Les Miserables" and "The Apache Wedding Prayer" to name a few.

The couple incorporated Chris’ love of records in their alternative to a guest book, which was a custom art print of a vintage gramophone with their names and wedding date. Guests were asked to sign it as they entered the reception space.

Jessica and Christopher had their first dance was to “Dreamland” by Bunny Wailer. "Chris collects records and after our third date he played this song on his record player and sang it to me," recalls Jessica. "It was so romantic."
Gold hand-painted Art Deco fans tied the white buttercream wedding cake into the vintage theme. Cannoli filling nodded to the couple's Italian heritage.
