A Romantic Barn Wedding in Benton Harbor, Michigan

While training for a half marathon, Christiana (30 and an account supervisor) met Patrick (29 and a fireman paramedic) at a popular Marquette bar during a celebratory visit with a friend. "As a celebration of our longest run yet, we decided to embark on a mini bar crawl," Christiana recalls. The two met, and despite an initial argument over who was the better cook, they finally agreed on a coffee date. "The rest, as they say, is history," Christiana says. The Chicago-based pair chose Benton Harbor's Blue Dress Barn after Patrick discovered the rustic venue on his own. "We found out that the barn only had one available Saturday left for the following year and booked it unseen. That was it, decision made," Christiana says. When it came time for their October nuptials, the two let the venue's natural elements shine in a rustic reception that involved plenty of personal touches -- including homemade Limoncello favors and a DIY photo booth. "More than anything, Patrick and I wanted our wedding to be fun," Christiana says. "We didn't want anything too over the top -- just for everyone feel like they'd come to the biggest dinner party ever."
