A Romantic, Classic Wedding at Butterfield Country Club in Oak Brook, Illinois
Kristen Deady (25 and works in sales) and Richie Zajeski (26 and a finance executive) looked to bundles of natural greenery, ultra-personalized details and an abundance of candlelight to bring their vision for a chic country club celebration to life.
Kristen and Richie sealed the deal in a traditional church ceremony at the same Catholic parish where they grew up. Afterward, the couple and their guests retreated to the nearby Butterfield Country Club, where the groom’s parents are members. “The club is gorgeous and we were able to enjoy certain membership privileges, like keeping the party going until the wee hours of the morning,” Kristen says of celebrating until 4 a.m.
The bride accessorized her mermaid-style sheath with her sister’s veil, a blue sapphire ring that belonged to Richie’s late mother and the most comfortable pair of shoes she had stashed in her closet. “I picked them out the morning of the wedding,” she says of the last-minute decision. For their first dance as newlyweds, the high school sweethearts swayed to “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John. “Richie plays the piano and that’s one of his favorite songs to play for me,” Kristen says.
A wall of greenery set the stage for the evening’s live entertainment. The tiered banana-and-mocha-flavored cake was finished with fresh blackberries and buttercream.
Guests gathered for cocktail hour on the outdoor patio where they sipped signature Mountain Mules made with fresh herbs and tequila, and a New England Fashioned garnished with a lobster claw drink stirrer. “The cocktails were a nod to our current home in Colorado and our time together in Boston,” Kristen says
