A Romantic Garden Wedding at Fishermen's Inn in Elburn, Illinois

Ashley Marrin’s (28 and a landscape architect) job ultimately inspired her and Tim Rysavy’s (29 and an electrical engineer) lush, enchanted garden aesthetic. Florals were the focal point of the late summer fete, with bright seasonal blooms mixed with cascading greenery to bring a fresh pop of color to the rustic interiors of the Fishermen’s Inn. “Our guests said they felt like they were in a forest,” Ashley says of their overgrown design approach. Ashley carried a nearly 15-pound bouquet filled with succulents and her favorite flower, green amaranthus. Adding to their garden theme, she and Tim potted a “unity plant” to mark their union during the alfresco ceremony. “The plant is something that will always be flowering around our anniversary to remind us of our special day,” Ashley says. Antique bird cages, moss-filled terrariums and miniature glass cloches made for whimsical décor items. After serving a savory spread with bacon-and-cheese-stuffed mushrooms and barbecue pork during cocktail hour, Ashley and Tim cut into a lemon-filled cake topped with buttercream and fresh flowers.
