A Romantic Garden Wedding at Sundy House in Delray Beach, Florida
Rachel Tomlinson (34 and a retail manager) and Adam Grover’s (35 and a CEO) winter wedding in Delray Beach, Florida, was the picture of garden romance, with a lush, secluded settings and a palette of soft rose-colored hues. “I was born and raised in Jamaica, so I knew I wanted a garden wedding with a simple yet romantic theme,” Rachel says. Sundy House, set amid a tropical garden, offered an ideal setting for the soiree. “The plants and trees of Sundy House took me back to the gardens of Jamaica I remembered from childhood,” Rachel says. The ceremony unfolded on an open green lawn surrounded by tropical flora, with the warm Florida sun shining its soft light through the trees. Guests had the opportunity to explore the gardens as they made their way to the ceremony site, following a winding path that took them past bright blooms and verdant greenery. Ivory columns topped with bouquets of blush roses and baby’s breath lined the aisles, with panels of ethereal white fabric heightening the romantic atmosphere and aesthetic. A reception followed on the patio, where guests enjoyed views of the garden as they mixed, mingled and dined. Crisp white linens gave way to towering arrangements of elegant pink roses and baby’s breath surrounded by votive candles that cast a romantic glow over the tables as the sun began to set. “A tradition that I included was our favor—a boxed piece of Jamaican wedding cake, a traditional fruit cake which is customary in Jamaica,” Rachel says. After dinner, Rachel and Adam treated guests to red velvet, lemon and raspberry cupcakes from Two Fat Cookies, putting a sweet finish on the evening. —Libby MacCarthy
