Jocelyne Woodhouse and Nick Woodhouse planned an intimate, glamorous affair with a color palette of blush, ivory and gold and, of course, plenty of glitz. While the couple calls New York home, they decided to head to sunny California for their early September affair. “We both love the California lifestyle and thought Los Angeles would be central for all of our Canadian and American friends and family,” says Jocelyne. When it came to choosing a venue, the private rooftop of The London West Hollywood seemed like the perfect spot with its panoramic views of Beverly Hills and beyond.

The hotel’s Hampton Court, an elegantly manicured English-style rose garden, played host to the ceremony. Rose petals ranging from pale pink to ivory guided Jocelyne as she made her way down the aisle in her striking Pnina Tornai gown towards the ethereal wedding arch where Nick stood waiting. After exchanging vows, the newlyweds ands their guests enjoyed cocktail hour by the pool, followed by dinner and dancing under a romantic, open-air tent. Guests were seated around long tables to heighten the evening’s intimate feel, with textured pink linens, sparkling crystal chandeliers and plenty of warm candle light establishing an air of romantic ambiance. Gilded accents and chiavari change played a key role in bringing about a hint of luxe, old Hollywood glamour, while lavish arrangements of cascading orchids, peonies and roses displayed atop glass hurricane vases struck just the right balance of modern, feminine elegance. “We made sure to incorporate special signature tequila cocktails — our favorite — and we love to dance, so we had a great DJ who spun all night,” says Jocelyne.

With many of their guests coming from out of town, Jocelyne and Nick wanted guests to make the most of their stay in sunny Los Angeles. In their invitation suite, the pair included a map of the city with some of their favorite shopping spots, beaches, hotels and restaurants. “The guests brought the map with them and actually used it!” says Jocelyne.
At the end of the rose-petal lined aisle stood a four-post wedding arch draped in airy white fabric and accented with two ornate arrangements of brilliant white orchids and soft pale pink garden roses and peonies.
Making the most of The London’s many stunning event spaces, Jocelyne and Nick began the day in Hampton Court, a rooftop rose garden overlooking West Hollywood toward Los Angeles. The pair kept the affair intimate, gathering together their closest family members and friends. Two by two, chiavari chairs framed the aisle and romantic rose petals lined the aisle, creating a whimsical ombre effect, leading to an airy wedding arch where Jocelyne and Nick exchanged vows.
To kick the party into high gear, Jocelyne and Nick provided guests with party-ready favors as they arrived to the reception — miniature bottles of Patron tequila that doubled as escort cards. The bottles were arranged on a shimmery sequin-studded table cloth alongside striking bundles of white orchids and pale pink roses.
Cocktail hour took place around the pool on The London’s rooftop. Small ultra modern cocktail tables dotted the lawn, the twinkling crystal embellishments and metallic tops glittering in the late afternoon sunlight. To create a cohesive look from ceremony straight through to the reception, the couple topped the tables with soft ivory and pink hydrangeas and dahlias.
Before sitting down to dinner, Jocelyne and Nick’s guests nibbled on inspired apps like brie and berry toasts and sipped on signature drinks by the pool while taking the sweeping views of West Hollywood and beyond.
Flowers were an important element in bringing the couple’s romantic, whimsical vision to life. “We were all about modern, yet full and lush arrangements when it came to the florals for our wedding,” says Jocelyne. “We wanted the light colored florals to make a romantic statement and not feel outdone by all the chiffon and chandeliers.” The tables boasted an array of different arrangements ranging from tall hurricane vases topped with cascading orchids, soft roses and dahlias to small bunches of all white or pink blooms.
Airy chiffon was incorporated strategically throughout the day to infuse the decor with a note of romance and whimsy. The ethereal fabric was used to construct both the wedding arch and ceremony tent and adorn the reception’s gold chiavari chairs. Crystal and bead-embellished fastenings added a subtle hint of glitz.
Gilded-edged chargers and two-toned cutlery brought a dash of glamour and sophistication to the tables’ textured blush linens, while complementing the twinkling chandeliers and gold chiavari chairs.
In lieu of the traditional tent, Jocelyne and Nick covered their elegant blush reception tables with an ethereal structure of draped white fabric. The open-air tent heightened the evening’s romantic feel and allowed guests to profit from the rooftop’s striking views and the city’s twinkling lights.
From the invitations to the menus and table numbers, each of the wedding's stationery elements featured the same quilted design, pale pink, ivory and gold color palette and playful script to create a cohesive feel throughout the event.
While the wedding’s decor perfectly captured the couple’s romantic, elegant vision for the evening, the couple names their decision to say “I do” in Los Angeles as the element that felt truly unique to them as a couple. “I think the element that best reflected us was the fact that we both came from small towns in Canada, we live in New York and were married in Los Angeles,” says Jocelyne. “It represents our hopes and dreams very well.”
Playing off the ceremony's ombre rose petal-lined aisle, the couple's three-tier wedding cake featured a cascade of purple ombre sugar flowers.
After dinner had their first dance as husband and wife, Jocelyne and Nick got guests out on the dance floor with help of Dash Entertainment, who spun lively hits all night long.
