Kate Thomas (27 and a writer) and Jordan Friedson’s (27 and a personal trainer) spring wedding was a fusion of industrial and timeless styles with a palette of soft pink pastels and sleek metallics. “We wanted to accentuate the natural beauty of the Hudson Valley in the springtime,” Kate says. “Similarly, we latched onto industrial, elegant, romantic and vintage-inspired things to help thread our vision together and set the overall tone.” 

The day started with an intimate ceremony in the manicured gardens of the Roundhouse at Beacon Falls in Beacon, New York, overlooking waterfalls nearby. Fleurs NYC created a stunning cherry blossom, rose, peony, grapevine and birch wedding arch for the occasion. After saying their “I dos,” the newlyweds ushered their guests into the Roundhouse’s Waterfall Room for a night of dinner, dancing and lots of celebrating. 

 With the help of Bellafare and Fleurs NYC, the couple transformed the former textile factory into a romantic scene with a mix of full, garden-inspired arrangements of roses, peonies and cherry blossoms, shimmery mercury glass, brightly lit lanterns and stately candelabras. They also made sure to include details that spoke to their roots and their history. Guests signed vintage postcards from Kate and Jordan’s home states, New York pretzels were served as a late-night snack, and the pair paid tribute to their pets with a signature cocktail named after their cat, Walter, and a groom’s cake fashioned in the likeness of their dog, Greta. 

A tip from Kate and Jordan: “Be present. Don't sweat the small stuff the day of, and be as 'in your body' as possible; you will want to try and savor every detail you can, since it goes by so fast. Oh, and dance! Dance a ton.” —Libby MacCarthy

Kate and Jordan enlisted the help of the florists at Fleurs NYC to balance out the raw, industrial vibe of the Roundhouse’s Waterfall Room. Together they dreamed up arrangements of full blooms like peonies, garden roses and dahlias in shades of peach, pink and ivory.
Kate and Jordan exchanged vows in the Roundhouse gardens overlooking Beacon Falls, New York. The couple took things to the next level with a lavish cherry blossom, rose, peony and grapevine wedding arch. Rose petals were scattered down the aisle, and string arrangements of the couple’s favorite songs, including Peter Gabriel's “Solsbury Hill” and Band of Horses’s “No One’s Gonna Love You,” provided a sound track for the intimate affair.
After dinner, Kate and Jordan treated guests to a slice of cake from Sugar Flower Bake Shop. The gilded, four-tier confection featured pistachio cake with strawberry filling, honey buttercream and clusters of sophisticated sugar flowers.
Kate and Jordan asked the bakers at Sugar Flower Bake Shop to whip up a chocolate-and-raspberry groom’s cake in the likeness of their dog, Greta.
After two and a half years together at a summer camp in New York where they were counselors, Jordan got down on one knee at one of their favorite restaurants and asked Kate to marry him. He presented her with a vintage-inspired Beverly K flower-cut diamond ring.
For a spring wedding, a few cherry blossoms were a must. Fleurs NYC delivered in a big way, creating standout arrangements. The mix of towering centerpieces with low, garden-inspired arrangements brought a touch of visual intrigue and drama to the room.
The floral arrangements were key to a romantic, feminine feel in the vast space; iron candelabras also combined romance and rusticity.
For their wedding party, Kate and Jordan went for a classic aesthetic with a subtle midcentury edge. Jordan’s groomsmen donned traditional Jack Silver suits in dark gray, while the bridesmaids wore tea-length Lela Rose dresses with V-shaped bateau necklines and asymmetric hems.
Kate and Jordan have two pets, one of which is a cat named Walter. Since the couple’s feline friend was unable to partake in the celebration, Kate and Jordan paid tribute to Walter by naming their signature cocktail—a mix of silver tequila, lime juice, grapefruit juice and club soda—after him. Behold the Sir Walter.
As a nod to their home in New York City, Kate and Jordan sent their guests off at the end of the night with freshly made New York pretzels wrapped in New York Times tissue paper.
At the end of the evening, Kate and Jordan’s families and friends sent them off in style by tossing bright, colorful confetti on them as they made their way to their getaway car.
