A Romantic, Laid-Back Wedding at a Private Residence in Los Angeles, California

When trying to find an indoor-outdoor Los Angeles venue with a great ocean view, weekend accommodations and a killer brunch space, the process can seem overwhelming. But with wedding planner DB Creativity on their side, Laura Curtin (26 and in marketing) and Chris Hazzard (28 and a writer) successfully found the dream location to hold their laid-back, romantic wedding. “It was a private residence that we rented the whole weekend, so we spent the night there too,” Laura says. “It was private, serene, down-to-earth and had a “wow” view that our out-of-town guests really enjoyed.” The couple kept the look of their wedding sophisticated and simple, thanks to a classic color palette of ivory, blush and gold with wooden accents that were captured by B&G Photography. Since Laura’s family was from the Midwest and Chris’s family was from the East Coast, many guests met one another for the first time over the family-style meal served at long wooden tables, which wer decorated in tall floral creations surrounded by candles to add a warm, welcoming ambience. “Instead of doing a private first look, like many couples do, we had champagne and toasts,” Laura says. “It was a great way to calm the wedding-day nerves and kick off the day with some bubbly and best friends.”

The silver engagement ring was a round-cut diamond in a vintage-inspired setting, which had previously belonged to Laura's grandmother. The ring was wedged between her silver wedding ring, accented with crystals at the top, and Chris's thick wedding band at the bottom; both were exchanged during the ceremony.
Laura wore an elegant ivory wedding dress with a deep V-neck and a beaded lace overlay from Mon Amie Bridal Salon. The dress had a small train in the back, and was chosen by Laura because she felt it was easy to dance the night away in.
Laura held an ivory and blush round bouquet filled primarily with roses and ranunculus, which was arranged by DB Creativity. The flower bouquet arrangement matched the other flower decor seen throughout the wedding, from the aisle decorations to the tall centerpieces on dining tables.
At the outdoor ceremony, which took place at a private residence in Los Angeles, California, round pastel-colored flower arrangements on square, white pillars lined the aisle. At the end of the aisle hung two lush flower pomanders from metal hooks.
Laura had an ivory tulle wedding veil attached to her down hairstyle that was done for the wedding day. The veil draped down her back and blended in well with her ivory wedding dress, which was covered in a lace overlay. She held her round ivory and pink bouquet filled with roses and ranunculus.
At the ceremony, chiavari chairs were wrapped in gold linens and tied at the back. Gold containers made of paper were tied to the ends of the chiavari chairs, which held rose petals for guests to use during the couple's recessional back up the aisle.
Laura stood in the middle of her bridesmaids, who wore knee-lenth cocktail dresses in a champagne color designed by Ralph Lauren. "My bridesmaids were rock stars, and I have also been a bridesmaid for several weddings, so I know how pricey the dresses can get," Laura says. "I opted for a simple, sparkly Ralph Lauren cocktail dress from Macy's—elegant yet affordable."
The reception took place on the patio of the private residence, where long wooden dining tables were paired with wood chiavari chairs wrapped in linens. The surface of the tables were decorated in tall flower centerpieces of hydrangeas, roses and ranunculus, which were surrounded by votive candles.
