A Romantic Luxury Wedding at Escondido Golf and Lake Club in Horseshoe, Texas

Katy Sojourner (24 and a geologist) and Cole Oliver (25 and in mineral and royalty acquisitions) have known each other since middle school and been friends since then, but never officially dated. They kept in touch throughout high school and college, and when both moved back to Abilene, they found their friendship turned into more. As their relationship became more serious, the couple started talking about marriage and living in Abilene. They decided to build their own home on a local lot, and checked on the progress of their home often. On one trip to visit their future home, Cole took Katy through the plans of where each room was going to be and ended up on their front porch where he got down on one knee. “I think about it every time I go to get the mail and walk back to the front porch to enter our home,” says Katy. They chose to be married at Escondido Golf and Lake Club because it is a romantic venue between Austin and Houston where many of the couple’s friends live. The couple played off the dark wood, iron and stucco atmosphere of the venue for their color palette, which involved gold and warm colors. Katy wore a rosewater Austin Scarlett dress with a stunning champagne lace-lined cathedral veil. Cole’s grandfather officiated the wedding, which was extremely special to them couple and their families. Later in the evening, Cole’s aunt and uncle sang the first dance song that they wrote for the couple’s waltz. The reception kicked off to a confetti bomb and glow necklaces for all the guests as everyone danced into the night to the tunes of a 12-piece band.
