A Romantic, Nautical Spring Wedding at Portsmouth Harbor Events in Portsmouth, New Hampshire
Inspired by an old Hebrew verse that reads, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul,” Gina Menario (26 and a digital project manager) and Steven Shuleski (27 and a teacher) infused their wedding day in the historic city of Portsmouth, NH with playful nautical touches. Having grown up in Portsmouth, Gina loved the city’s rich history and convivial spirit and knew it would be the perfect spot to gather together their families and friends. “We love the nautical, historic environment of Portsmouth that is mixed with a modern and hip atmosphere,” says Gina. “We also loved the fact that everything was close together — the ceremony and reception venues, hotels and bars.” The day started with a traditional ceremony at South Church, an 1824 architectural gem, with high ceilings, ornate columns and a beautiful granite facade. The couple exchanged vows and took communion, then whisked guests off through the city’s cobblestone streets to Portsmouth Harbor Events for the reception. Romantic arrangements of soft blush blooms designed by F As in Flowers dotted the tables with dozens of candles filling the room with warm, ambient light. Gina and Steven chose a sea glass-inspired color palette of mint green, pale blue, blush and ivory to decorate the space and sent guests home with jars of homemade sea glass candy, both nods to the seaside locale.
