Although they were friends in high school, Elle and Kalen didn't connect as more than that until after college. Elle moved home in the spring and they were dating by the fall. Two years later, they had their first child. “He is the light of our life,” Elle says. Kalen proposed the next year on Mother’s Day as he read her a book about their love story with the ring attached to the last page.

The couple were married five months later at a country club in the mountains of Twin Falls, Idaho. Elle wore a champagne-colored Watters Vienna gown with lace detailing for a glamorous look. She topped it with a full-length cathedral-length veil and silver Jimmy Choo shoes with crystal earrings and bracelet. She carried a bouquet that included cream garden sprays, dusty pink sahara roses and pale pink hydrangeas for a romantic and classic look. Her bridesmaids wore black Amsale one-shoulder tulle gowns to look sleek and formal while carrying bouquets of dusty pink roses. Kalen and his groomsmen wore traditional black-and-white tuxedos with black bow ties and dress shoes.

The ceremony was outside and included an archway draped with flowers where Elle and Kalen tied a unity-rope braid. It represented their unbreakable bond and their faith. The outdoor wedding combined Idaho's rustic beauty with an elegant, romantic vibe. A chandelier hung from the archway where the couple were married and blush pink carried over as the main color. Accents of ivory, gold and black brought out Elle's desired feeling. “We opted for a large draped tent and included wooden farm tables and sequin linens to help combine the aesthetics,” Elle says of the country-club reception that later hosted dinner and dancing. Wooden farm tables were decorated with pink sequin linens and black chiavari chairs. Elle and Kalen sat at a sweetheart table with their friends and family gathered around. Guests spent much of the evening on the black-and-white-checkered dance floor, a statement piece. Elle's advice for future brides: “The best advice we can give is to love and accept each other. "I loved all the detailing in the beadwork and the softness of the lace," Elle says of her champagne beaded mermaid-style gown. She paired it with a full-length cathedral-length veil, silver Jimmy Choo shoes and crystal earrings and bracelet.
Elle and Kalen reconnected after college. After dating for two years, the couple had their little boy, Beckett Jack Smith. "He is the light of our life," Elle says.
For the wedding party, Elle's bridesmaids wore designer black Amsale one-shoulder tulle mermaid-style gowns with simple black patent heels. Their blush and ivory bouquets were similar to Elle's.
"A special part of our ceremony included the unity-rope braid," Elle says. "We each took a side of the rope and weaved it through to the other, creating a braid. One side represented me, one side represented Kalen, and the middle represented Christ. Sealing it with burning the rope together, it made an unbreakable bond."
The red rocks in the background accented the outdoor ceremony where Elle and Kalen were married under an archway. It was decorated with blush and ivory flowers and a chandelier.
Kalen gave Elle a diamond solitaire ring with a diamond eternity band. She also has an eternity wedding band to complete the ring set. Kalen has a simple tungsten band in a slate color.
"Although we selected an outdoor wedding location," said the bride, "I knew I didn't want a casual outdoor or rustic reception. I wanted to design a polished and elegant environment to stand out against the gorgeousrnmountain vistas."
The lead singer of Golden Standard sang Jack Johnson's "Better Together" throughout the ceremony as Elle and Kalen had their private moment apart from the rest of the guests.
Kalen and the groomsmen opted for traditional black-and-white tuxedos with black bow ties and dress shoes to coordinate with the wedding's romantic and glamorous look.
"We are a compassionate couple: carefree and loving with open hearts. He is humor, and I am grace. This has been the perfect mix," Elle says of their romance.
"We had blush pink escort cards with each guest's name written by a calligrapher," Elle says. "It was a really special detail that I know guests enjoyed—we even had guests tell us they saved theirs."
Guests also enjoyed the lounge area surrounding the large circular bar. After dinner many guests took a break from the dance floor. The bistro lights added a romantic feel to the area.
"To achieve the soft and romantic vibe I desired, I worked with my wedding planner to let blush pink shine as our main color and accented it with touches of ivory, gold and even black. We opted for a large draped tent and included wooden farm tables and sequin linens to help combine the aesthetics."
Bouquets and table settings included a mix of cream garden sprays, dusty pink sahara roses, the lightest pink hydrangeas and other florals and greenery.
"We ordered special glassware that had a vintage and almost regal feel to really showcase the florals for my centerpieces," Elle says. "Each piece was different, which made the atmosphere amazing."
Guests enjoyed the wedding cake, made by Cookie Basket, which consisted of four layers and flowers as decoration.
"The best advice we can give is to love and accept each other," Elle says. "Let each another know how appreciative you are each day. Already having a child, we understand how busy life can get. Always take time to reconnect, and realize it's all worth it. The stresses and disagreements of life should never create tension between each other. Live in love and happiness. Each day is a blessing."
