Samantha Burkett (25, an administrative assistant) and Sean Sarsfield (31, a project manager) met while they were volunteering for Team in Training, a group that supports the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Sean was a survivor of childhood leukemia and Samantha had lost her father to cancer at a young age, but their difficult past was what brought them together. One weekend, the couple went wine tasting at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California with a deck that overlooks the Silicon Valley. As a friend was taking a picture of the couple with the gorgeous view behind them, Sean got down on one knee and asked Samantha to marry him. The couple got married at the Los Altos History Museum in Los Altos, California, with a rustic barn ?and historical Smith House on the property. The romantic wedding had a color palette of creams, pinks, grays and silvers that complemented the natural tones that emitted from the surround landscape. Garden roses, hydrangeas, spray roses and dahlias mixed in with smaller greens decorated the simple table linens for a color contrast that popped. Guests took home tiny potted succulents from the occasion, which reflected the couple that gave it to them. “We wanted our favors to be something beautiful that grew with the care of our loved ones and represented our love for nature,” says Samantha.
