A Romantic Renaissance-Inspired Wedding at Langdon Hall in Cambridge, Ontario

Michelle Gowing (24 and a spa receptionist) and Kyle Scheifele (25 and a system operator for Hydro) threw a Renaissance-inspired feast to celebrate their wedding at the regal Langdon Hall in Cambridge, Ontario. “We both have a love for history, so we wanted to incorporate the Renaissance era into our wedding,” Michelle says. “I have always been intrigued by the Queen Mary era.” A rich jewel-tone palette of oxblood (the bride’s favorite color) and navy (the groom’s favorite color) outfitted the alfresco ceremony and reception. Little Renaissance-inspired touches included oxblood-sealed envelopes, lanterns, vintage decor and fruit centerpieces. For the ceremony, Michelle and Kyle kept the decor simple, as the estate’s manicured gardens provided a beautiful backdrop. Indoors, for the reception, tables were dressed with oxblood and cream floral arrangements, and fruit was included in the arrangements, giving the tablescape a feast-like feeling. “Our ceremony was the first one in the new Langdon Hall building,” Michelle says. “We decided on Langdon Hall because I’ve been going there with my family for high tea since I was a little girl. The place is very sentimental to me, and it’s hidden away from the city and roads, so it’s very peaceful and private.” —Marissa Hermanson
