A Romantic, Rustic Wedding at Laudholm Farm in Wells, Maine

From the lush ceremony accents on wooden stands to the bridesmaids' rose floor-length dresses, Caitlin Vassallo (26 and an elementary school teacher) and Mike Vassallo’s (26 and in sales) outdoor wedding is just the right mix of romance and rustic charm. The couple worked with Beautiful Days to fill their celebration with neutral, pink, gray and gold tone details alongside wooden accents and barrels. Mark Davidson Photography documented the day, which it started with a simple outdoor ceremony, moved to a barn cocktail hour and ended in a fun reception at Laudholm Farm. The couple’s florist from Beautiful Days created stunning tablescapes with a mixture of low floral centerpieces in gold breakaway vases and gold lanterns. Each arrangement included white and blush dahlias, white hydrangeas, green gerber daisies, pink roses, pink garden roses and dusty miller for a natural and romantic look. “We wanted the colors to really be soft and beautiful,” Caitlin says. “I really wanted the wedding to glow with the lights and flowers.” Caitlin also carried an eye-catching bouquet fit for a garden with blush roses, pink garden roses, white ranunculus, ivory roses and Japanese pieris. Her dress also complemented the arrangement's natural beauty. The team at Madeleine's Daughter in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, helped Caitlin find her wedding dress by Mikaella Bridal. “It was simple and elegant. I really wanted something that would match the beauty of the farm,” Caitlin says. She chose an all-lace strapless white gown with a sweetheart neckline. Caitlin shares a tip for future couples: “Enjoy the planning, and stick to what you want.”

The couple’s florist from Beautiful Days designed eye-catching tablescapes for the reception with gold lanterns alongside low floral centerpieces in gold breakaway vases. Each was filled with a romantic display of white hydrangea, white and blush dahlias, pink roses, green gerber daisies, pink garden roses and dusty miller.
Mike and his groomsmen dressed for the wedding in gray suits paired with white shirts and brown shoes. To complement the farm setting, each man also added a whimsical touch to his attire. All wore fun boutonnieres of green hops surrounded by white astilbes and tied with green ribbon.
With a little help from the team at Head Games, Caitlin wore her hair in a classic updo with a few loose strands for a romantic touch. It was just the right fit for her all-lace white wedding dress by Mikaella Bridal. She finished off the look with bold pearl earrings surrounded by a fun curved halo design and simple espadrilles with white bows.
The couple’s florist from Beautiful Days created whimsical bouquets to complement each bridesmaid’s different-style rose dress. The arrangements added a cohesive element to their looks with white astilbes, white roses, white hydrangeas, blush dahlias and greenery. The bouquets also complemented Caitlin and Mike’s natural farm venue.
Pink Bridesmaid Dresses
The team at Madeleine's Daughter helped Caitlin find the right dress for her wedding day. “My wedding dress was simple and elegant,” Caitlin says. “I wanted something that would match the beauty of the farm.” She chose an all-lace white strapless dress by Mikaella Bridal.
“I am a traditional girl who loves textures,” Caitlin says. “The flowers had lots of depth and shape.” The couple's florist from Beautiful Days complemented their natural farm setting with a stunning bouquet filled with pink hues and lush greenery. A mixture of ivory and blush roses, pink garden roses, Japanese pieris, white ranunculus and white astilbes were included in the arrangement.
The couple celebrated their cocktail hour inside Laudholm Farm’s barn as guests enjoyed mini grilled-cheese sandwiches, french fry cones and lobster bisque shooters. Caitlin and Mike decorated the space with white linen-covered cocktail tables and simple white hydrangea centerpieces in bulb glass vases.

“The decor was intended to be simple, elegant and romantic,” Caitlin says. “We wanted the colors to be soft and beautiful. I really wanted the wedding to glow with the lights and flowers.” Caitlin and Mike decorated the open tent with rustic family-style tables, gold lanterns and low floral centerpieces.
More than a few desserts were available for Caitlin and Mike's 190 guests in Laudholm Farm’s barn. The couple chose a two-tier confection topped with a blush pink garden rose. They also served mini cupcakes and tartlets in different flavors. After dessert, the couple finished their night by dancing to a live band.
