Even though Kaitlin Cowles (26 and a school counselor) and David Oswalt (28 and a civil engineer) grew up less than an hour away from each other and attended Clemson University together, they didn't first meet until a mutual friend introduced them a few years after graduating. After a year of dating, David proposed in the middle of campus with a custom solitaire engagement ring. After a traditional church ceremony, the couple invited guests to celebrate at Lexington Municipal Center in Lexington, South Carolina. Vintage blue mason jars inspired their springy color palette and lush peony and ranunculus arrangements enhanced the romantic feel. "We decided to base the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen bow ties on that shade of blue and to have lots of blue mason jar centerpieces," says Kaitlin. Enchanting southern cuisine, including bacon pimento cheese bites, stole the show but the true masterpiece was the cake: a stunning four-tiered buttercream confection with cascading fresh flowers. "We also had two favors—chocolate bars and mason jars of local honey—because David's grandparents are from Pennsylvania, so they like to provide the Hershey bars as favors when each grandchild gets married. We loved that one of our favors supported South Carolina farmers and one was sentimental!"
