A Romantic Spring Wedding at Sticks Design Studio in Des Moines, Iowa
Newlyweds Lindsey Adams (26 and a speech-language pathologist) and Nick Wadle (27 and an investment specialist) met the way most couples dread – through a blind set up between mutual friends. Fortunately, the two strangers quickly hit it off and got engaged two years later when Nick popped the question with an art deco-inspired ring. "He proposed on my birthday with some of my favorite things – vintage keepsakes, Scratch Cupcakes and of course, him on one knee," Lindsey says. Inspired by their shared love of all things vintage, Nick and Lindsey used shades of pink and navy to pull off their dream wedding day in Des Moines. "Our wedding was all about mixing our love for all things vintage and found," the bride explains. "We wanted our day to reflect our personalities – cozy and laid-back but obviously with a bit of sparkle." Dressed in a white Hayley Paiges dress by JLM Couture, Lindsey completed her bridal look with a custom-made hairpiece by Gilded Shadows Boutique along with a ring that was once owned by her great-great-grandmother. "My dress captured exactly how I wanted to feel as a bride – romantic and whimsical with a bit of glam," she says. After exchanging vows in a traditional ceremony, the newlyweds moved the party to Sticks Design Studio where they celebrated with 250 family members and friends. There, the decor included a mix of the bride and groom's favorite items – including a rustic "W" Nick gave to Lindsey when he proposed along with fifty-year-old suitcases and chalkboard quotes scattered throughout the space. "We had a few fun surprisers for guests along the way, including cigars and snacks to keep the party going," the bride explains. "But what really made the day special was sharing it with those we love."
