A Rustic Carriage House Wedding at Meade Plantation in Nashville, Tennessee
Despite continuously crossing paths at work, Jennifer Compton (35 and a marketing lead) and John Wilkens (46 and an executive director) were never formally introduced. Jennifer finally suggested meeting for drinks -- even though John likes to think he made the first move -- but it wasn't until their second date that they become inseparable. "We went for margaritas, and I wanted to make a grand exit by giving him one last look as I got in the cab," says Jennifer. "But the drinks were so strong that I ended up hitting my head on the roof of the cab, and we couldn't stop laughing!" John popped the question a few years later, and the pair spent the next three years planning their rustic spring wedding at Belle Meade Plantation in Nashville, Tennessee. Jennifer and John set a welcoming tone to their garden ceremony by greeting each guest with a glass of champagne before the pair exchanged vows under a canopy of trees. To enhance their blue and green color palette, Jennifer and John decorated tables with cornflower blue linens, rustic lanterns and small arrangements of lily of the valley and bells of Ireland. Staying true to her Nashville roots, Jennifer wanted a country-chic affair that was a big party for family and friends. "Guests at our wedding were in everything from cowboy boots to suits -- just as I'd imagined!" says Jennifer.
