A Rustic, Casual Wedding at Santa Barbara Polo & Raquet Club in Santa Barbara, California

When Royce Wadsworth (29 and the chief of staff at Wondery Podcast Network) and Greg Reed (34 and a VP of technology partnerships at Universal Pictures) began looking at wedding venues, they quickly fell for the Santa Barbara Polo & Raquet Club, which happened to be the site of one of their first trips as a couple. “One of the first weekends we spent together was a getaway to Carpinteria, and we watched a polo game that Sunday, Royce says. With many members of Greg’s family flying in from England, Royce and Greg wanted a beautiful, relaxed setting. “We wanted to gather our families from two continents in a place steeped in tradition yet grounded in atmosphere.” Their 125 guests sat in the grandstands to watch Royce and Greg exchange vows on the polo field. Afterward, family and friends came out onto the field for postceremony cocktails, then moved into the Polo & Raquet Club for the reception. Fresh eucalyptus garlands and white hydrangeas decorated the long communal tables at the reception, where a family-style meal was served. Says Royce: “The day of, make sure to take a step back and realize that these people will never all be together again. Enjoy it, because it goes by in the blink of an eye.” —Carolyn Meers
