A Rustic, Casual Wedding at a Private Residence in Cushing, Wisconsin

Everything about Zoey Carney (a field technician) and Justin McKenzie's (a mechanic) outdoor celebration was completely rustic casual, from the burlap and lace table runners to the hay bales that served as seating during their backyard ceremony. "We wanted rustic, that's for sure," Zoey says of their casual fete in her parent's backyard. "We lined the space with hay bales and put up a large white tent strung with lights for our reception. The entire day reflected us as a laid-back, country couple." Wildflowers and wheat were paired with bold sunflowers and burnt orange roses to create the flower arrangements, while decor details (including old washtubs) were scattered throughout the space. After exchanging vows under a DIY wedding arch, the newlyweds and their guests treated guests to a night of dinner and dancing, courtesy of Free Way Jam, a local band that both Zoey and Justin ended up loving. "They were the best decision we made," Zoey says. "Everyone was telling us how fun the dancing was weeks after our wedding had passed." After the night came to a close, the newlyweds sent their guests home with chocolate chip cookies and cartons of milk as a sweet way to express thanks. Some advice from the bride: "Take a deep breath and remember that not everything has to be perfect," Zoey says. "Roll with the punches and take in your special day, it goes by so fast."
