A Rustic-Chic Wedding at Historic Smithonia Farm in Colbert, GA

Lucas Frentzel (30 and a nurse) knows how special Adrienne Dishman's (29 and a physician assistant) grandfather is to her, and since her grandfather is 94 years old, he also knew that he wouldn't be able to travel for their wedding. Lucas wanted to involve him somehow, so he proposed to Adrienne on her grandfather's property in Missouri. "It was so special and thoughtful—just like Lucas—and my family was also in town for a reunion, so we were able to celebrate with them," says Adrienne. "One of the most important moments in my life happened at one of the most important places in my life!" Ten months later Adrienne and Lucas invited guests to celebrate their wedding at the Historic Smithonia Farm in Colbert, GA. What really sold the couple on their venue was the beautiful brick barns with exposed wood beams and massive wrought iron chandeliers, pastures and skyline. The ceremony took place in a courtyard between two of the three brick barns. "We were overlooking the rolling green pastures, beautiful fence lines and open blue sky," says Adrienne. "The view was amazing and made us feel like we were able to truly embrace being there with just 'us' and our closest family and friends." In order to achieve a simple feel, the couple worked with a black, white, green and blush color palette. The bride's mother made their rustic centerpieces using spray painted old wine bottles wrapped twine. Family heirloom mason jars were filled with hydrangeas, baby's breath and and roses placed on wooden chargers. After a sparkler send off, the newlyweds rode around in a white stretch limo before circling back to pick up their wedding party and continue the celebration in Downtown Athens.
