A Rustic Country Wedding at Peeper Ranch in Lenexa, Kansas
Lacy Frees (32 and a dance studio owner and instructor) and Matt Draznik (28 and a truckload logistics coordinator) met in Kansas City when they became roommates. But, they didn’t start dating until Lacy found her own apartment. About a year and a half later, they went to Weston Irish Fest in Weston, Missouri together. “I had been trying to get a tasting tour of a local artisan cheese farm that I love, Green Dirt Farm, and finally was able to get a reservation for that Saturday morning,” Lacy says. “We arrived right on time, but no one else was there. The tour guide said the others weren’t able to make it. I, of course, didn’t think anything odd of that. We came toward the end of the tour to the original barn and the huge barns doors opened to reveal a sign that said, ‘Will Ewe Marry Me?’ My first thought actually was, ‘Oh, somebody must of left their decorations up.’ Matt could barely get any words out, but presented the ring, went down on one knee, and said, ‘I love you.’ After a series of laughing, crying, screaming and a little disbelief, I said, “Yes!’” The couple knew they wanted to get married near Kanas City because they had people coming in from all over the US. They easily chose Peeper Ranch in Lenexa. “We both really wanted a venue that was cozy, rustic, party friendly and, of course, had room to dance,” Lacy says. “This was our favorite out of all the places we looked at and was within our budget. It is a gorgeous, working horse ranch with a sprawling landscape that is to die for.” They worked with In Bloom to create the lush yellow and white flower arrangements and Lacy made all of the chalkboard-inspired invitations herself. They added some vintage details from their love of thrift shopping and even had a polaroid photo guestbook. The best part was the BBQ dinner by Lone Wolf Catering and three-tier ruffled buttercream cake by Kami’s Cakes.
