A Rustic Country Wedding at Ransomed Heart Ranch in Lone Jack, Missouri

Kylie Nunn (20 and an entrepreneur) and Gavin Parks (21 and works in farming and sales) met at church. They decided to exchange vows where they first met at Ransomed Heart Ranch in Lone Jack, Missouri, which is also where their church meets. They loved the rustic, country vibe of the venue and kept their decor simple to match. They had a waterfront ceremony next to a lake on the property, which was completed with a custom made hickory wood cross from a friend of the couple. “This was the best reflection of us on our wedding day because we desire to reflect Jesus Christ in everything that we do,” Kylie says. “Especially our wedding and our marriage.” After the traditional Christian ceremony, the couple moved to a tented reception nearby. Guests were transported by a classic green John Deere tractor that Gavin fully restored when he was in high school. Kylie and Gavin used a simple coral and gray color palette for their shabby chic wedding. Not wanting to spend too much of the budget on flowers, Kylie and her mom put together silk flower floral arrangements (mostly peonies and ranunculus—Kylie’s favorite!) months in advance. Wanting an ultra-local feel throughout all of the details, Kylie and Gavin served traditional Kansas City BBQ including pulled pork, baked beans, slaw and chips. Instead of a classic wedding cake, they served homemade fruit pies made by friends, blackberry cobbler made by Kylie’s mom and cupcakes made by Kyle’s sister. One of the best parts was the father-daughter dance that started sweet and slow and turned into a dance routine to Thriller, Walk Like and Egyptian and Ice Ice Baby.
