A Rustic Desert Wedding at Under Canvas Moab in Utah
Cynthia Merhej originally hails from Lebanon, Jordan Tranel has roots in Colorado and the pair met in the Cayman Islands. Nevertheless they decided on a rustic desert wedding in Utah that doubled as a weekend glamping getaway. "We created a wedding that is truly a reflection of us: easy-going, informal, nontraditional, adventurous, wild and free-spirited," Cynthia says. The couple used the natural landscape to their advantage, decorating with simple DIY signage, terra-cotta pots and succulent arrangements. The ceremony took place overlooking the vast desert landscape, and the pair stood in front of a triangular wood arch with rustic flower arrangements. "The flowers were a mix of dry and fresh, earthy with a pop of desert-y color," Cynthia says. "They definitely played a beautiful part in the overall style of our wedding." At the reception, dining tables stood atop a wood platform brightened with string lights. A hand-painted blue and white fondant cake as well as personalized beer koozie favors added personal touches. Jordan wore an elegant navy-blue suit with brown leather suspenders and a bohemian boutonniere. Cynthia stunned in a flowing halter dress covered with fringe and tassels.
