Soon after Nile Jackson (25 and in the Royal Air Force) and Rachel Howarth (24 and also in the Royal Air Force) met, Rachel realized Nile was in the Air Force and she was just about to apply. Clearly, they had a lot in common! When she was accepted into the force a year later, Nile let slip he was ring shopping. But rather than just wait for the proposal, Rachel took things into her own hands and organized a surprise weekend away for the two of them at a B&B in Lancashire, England. “Nile thought we were spending it at my mum's house,” Rachel says. Rachel hid a spoon engraved with, "Will you marry me?” in a glass of jam and after a few glasses of champagne he discovered the spoon and said yes! When it came time to plan their wedding, they were looking for the perfect venue that was rustic, natural and simple. They settled on the Vasilias Nikoklis Inn in Nikoklia, Cyprus, thanks to the gorgeous grounds and the stunning backdrop . “The views around the island are superb,” Rachel says. The couple first wed in a traditional church ceremony then headed to the inn where guests were greeted by local treats including Cypriot canapes, mini lamb koftas, halloumi and olive pies. A color scheme of pistachio and ivory decorated the venue with little homespun touches--all of which was beautifully captured by Christodoulou Photography. To get the party going, the couple even hired Cyprus dancers as a surprise! "All of our guests told us the wedding day reflected Nile and I perfectly as it was simple but unique," says Rachel.

Rachel has always dreamed of wearing a simple, lace dress on her wedding day but fell in love with this satin dress. "It was a complete bargain!" she says.

Rachel found her the perfect match for her wedding dress -- a 1920s vintage veil from eBay.
Both Nile and his groomsmen wore bow ties instead of traditional ties for the wedding day. Nile designed his own formal wear! He picked the fabric for his shirt, waistcoat and trousers.
Now talk about a creative groom. Nile designed his own suit at Andrew Gartner in Buckinghamshire, UK. "He wanted a unique and striking shirt... something different!" says Rachel.
"I wanted to marry in a church," Rachel says. "So we chose the church we'd been attending in Cyprus at Episkopi Station and asked our Padre if he would marry us."

The couple decided to get married in Cyprus and Nile started looking for venues immediately. Soon after he called Rachel saying he found the perfect spot! "I trusted his instinct and we booked it before I'd even set eyes on it!" she says.
The couple served a traditional 3-course Cypriot meal (with lots of wine) prepared by the Vasilias Nikoklis Inn.
For their guests, the couple handmade tiny glass jars of pistachio nuts as favors with individual pieces of colored cotton lids.
Rustic Homespun Wedding Card Bag
The couple chose a naked cake from Marianna's Bakery in Cyprus which perfectly fit in with the natural, rustic surroundings of the inn. "We decided upon a Vanilla sponge with jam and buttercream for the bottom layer with a chocolatey top tier," says Rachel. Rachel found two love birds to sit on top from Liberty Rose vintage store in Buckinghamshire, UK.
