A Rustic, DIY Wedding at Stonefields Heritage Farm in Beckwith, Ontario

It was a case of being in the right place at the right time that allowed Lynn Cayer (30 and works in marketing) and Brett Crawford (31 and an engineer) to meet. Lynn had met her friends at the beach for a game of volleyball, but they didn't have enough players so she decided to ask a couple guys that happened to be walking by if they wanted to play. As chance would have it, one of those guys was Brett. "He and his friends were looking for a court and needed female players for their team," says Lynn. "The team started going for drinks together after each game and one night the only two people available after the game was us. We decided to go anyhow, had a great time, he walked me home and the rest is history."For their wedding, the couple headed to Stonefields Heritage Farm in Beckwith, Ontario. "It was truly a spectacular backdrop and perfectly intimate," says Lynn. "Looking back, I could have gone much more minimal in my decorating and it still would have been stunning in the photographs." The couple exchanged vows surrounded by the farm's rustic barns, followed by photos on the acres of rolling pastures. "Our venue surprised us with a private picnic in a gorgeous field between the ceremony and reception," says Lynn. "It included a bottle of bubbly and all the appetizers being served to our guest during cocktail hour. It was truly special and gave Brett and I a moment to stop and celebrate being officially married." DIY touches were the main components of the decor, from the antique mannequin seating chart to the table numbers and favors, the couple opting to make everything themselves in an effort to have the day feel sentimental and personalized.
