A Rustic, Elegant Garden-Inspired Wedding at a Private Residence in Haddonfield, New Jersey
Elise Silvestri (27 and an executive skin care consultant for Rodan & Fields) wanted to get married in her parents’ backyard ever since she was 5 years old, so the location was an easy choice with her nuptials to Dan Hendrickson (31 and a FAA air traffic controller at Fort Myers Regional South West Airport). The first person the couple contacted when they started planning was Leila Miller at STARR Events. “Growing up in South Jersey I always loved going to Steven Starr’s restaurants,” Elise says. “When I found out a few years back that he also did catering I knew we must use them for our wedding.” Leila pointed Elise and Dan to Melissa with Uncommon Events who brought their vision to life. Elise and Dan had the perfect combination between rustic details (such as the chalkboard-inspired stationery, reclaimed wood centerpieces and farm house reception tables) and elegant flair (with crystal chandeliers, green glassware and mercury glass centerpieces). They used a neutral green and ivory color palette with pops of silver to complete their shabby chic soiree. Uncommon Events also created all of the lush, all white floral arrangements that brought a garden feel to the day. The couple had a traditional ceremony with a sand pouring unity ceremony where they used sand from Elise’s home in New Jersey, Dan’s beach home in Michigan and their home together in Florida to seal their blended lives. Afterwards, STARR Events served to-die-for hors d’oeuvres such as the mini grilled cheese with tomato soup shooters. Yum!
