A Rustic, Elegant Wedding at the Homestead in Glen Arbor, Michigan

Through their laid-back rustic wedding, Meaghan Howe (27 and and a podiatrist) and Doug Stoinski (30 and a podiatrist) were determined to pay homage to northern Michigan—the place they love, and where they got engaged. "Because we both grew up vacationing there and got engaged on Empire Bluff Trail, we knew we wanted to incorporate the beauty of northern Michigan into our theme," Meaghan says. To bring their vision to life, Meaghan and Doug filled their day with rustic fabrics and a neutral color scheme sprinkled with subtle nods to their setting, like the custom table made from corks they collected from nearby wineries. But it was the thoughtful DIY details like the bridesmaid dresses (hand-dyed by the groom's sister) and the dried flowers plucked straight from Meaghan's collection that really captured the day's easy, love-filled vibe. Meaghan even had her hair done by the same stylist she's been going to since she was 3 years old. A traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Philip Neri Church was followed by a reception at the Homestead woodsy Mountain Flowers Lodge in Glen Arbor, where guests were treated to dinner, dancing, and a late-night menu complete with homemade pizzas and s'mores. —Meghan Overdeep
