A Rustic Elegant Wedding at Walters Farms in Ragland, Alabama

Although she originally envisioned a formal, indoor wedding surrounded by "guests dressed to the nines," Rachel Adamy instantly fell for the rustic charm of Walters Farms in Ragland, Alabama. "The venue is owned by a couple who built the barn and ceremony site for their own son's wedding a few years ago," Rachel says. "When Sam and I found the farm, we fell in love with it." With an elegant-meets-rustic aesthetic in mind, the college sweethearts created a space that evoked the romanticism of their own love story. Jute-wrapped arrangements of white stock, freesia and silver dollar eucalyptus put a new spin on lace-wrapped bouquets and navy-lace-topped round reception tables for an extra pop of color that perfectly coordinated with the floor-length bridesmaid dresses. Another standout navy detail: Rachel's retro wedding shoes, which popped against her classic white lace sheath. Family and friends looked on from wooden benches as Rachel and Sam sealed the deal in a waterfront ceremony before walking up the aisle to Ben Rector's "Brand New." "We wanted to incorporate a Ben Rector song because his concert was the first Sam and I went to together," Rachel says. As for planning advice, the newlyweds warn to plan more for your marriage than your actual wedding day. "The reality is that the music will fade and the flowers will wilt before the day becomes just a beautiful memory," Rachel says. "Ultimately, when the day fades, the two of you and the vows you spoke will remain." —Rachel Sylveste
