When Megan, 26 and a research chemist, first met David, 30 and an accounting manager, during her freshman year of college at North Carolina State, their relationship didn't blossom.  Four years later, the pair reconnected on Facebook when Megan moved to Charlotte after graduation and it took another three years before they were officially an item. David waited until December to propose and surprised Megan with an engagement ring after they finished decorating their Christmas tree.  "He gave me a special ornament called a 'Wishing Ball' for us to write our wishes down each year and put them inside the ornament," says Megan. "When he opened up the ball for us to put the papers inside, there was the ring—I immediately screamed with joy and said yes—and then I said 'Oh wait, you’re supposed to say something first?!'" Once it was official, Megan and David planned a Rocky River Vineyards celebration with an autumnal red and yellow color scheme.  The couple swapped vows in front of a rustic green barn that was nestled in between rows of grapevines before inviting guests over to the open pavilion for a night of dancing and Southern fare. Seasonal arrangements of fresh flowers, made by the bride, decorated the DIY reception and burlap accents added to the rustic feel.

"I grew up in Southern Pines, NC—the land of the pines—so we incorporated pinecones in the centerpieces, invitations and paper goods," says Megan. "I designed, printed and assembled our stationery suite which allowed me to add a personal touch by telling our love story through our invitation."
The couple gave guests homemade honey from their family's honey bee farm. "Our wedding had a lot of handmade aspects and much of the decor was items that we collected over the years," says Megan.
Megan's elegant Wtoo dress was the first one she tried on. "I wanted a lace gown to go with our rustic wedding style and loved the lace illusion neck and keyhole back of my gown," says Megan.
Megan and her bridesmaids put together all of the rustic bouquets and flower arrangements from fresh seasonal flowers they bought at a local farmer’s market.

"Our main wedding color was red with hints of yellow and gray," says Megan. "Red is both of our favorite color and I love how it looks with hints of yellow for a fall wedding!"
