A Rustic Farm Wedding at Liberty Ridge Farm in Schaghticoke, New York
Lindsay Baker (26 and human resources) and James Daly (27 and in property maintenance) met in high school algebra class. About a year later, they went bowling on a group date and have been together ever since. They got engaged while Lindsay was away at graduate school and James came to visit—he arrived at her apartment with a bouquet of roses, with a ring hidden inside one of the blooms. Their wedding took place at Liberty Ridge Farm in Schaghticoke, New York. “We chose this location because it allowed for a beautiful farm feel,” says Lindsay. The venue features a lawn and cornfields by a brook as well as an indoor area with exposed wooden beams and family style wooden tables and chairs for a “home-like” atmosphere. The color palette was full of fall colors, and the couple incorporated whatever rustic decor they could find to complete the style, including haystacks, pumpkins and flowers. “The more chipped paint, the better,” says the bride. She used accent pieces such as rusty metal shutters to handwritten chalkboard signs along with traditional fall flowers, and made the arrangements on site in mason jars. A family friend made the wedding cake, a carrot cake with cream cheese icing in between the naked layers with a caramel drizzle. The guests took a tractor-pulled ride to and from the ceremony. There was also a cozy campfire set up in the courtyard with s’mores supplies and a photo booth, in addition to a jumping pillow and underground tube slide to keep guests entertained. Lindsay and James sent each guest home with a custom printed mason jar and little jars of Vermont maple syrup, a nod to their home state.
