A Rustic Glam Wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina

Loving all things sparkly, feathery and girly, Stephanie Couto (43 and a paralegal) and Danny Martin (40 and a manufacturing representative) turned their shabby-chic venue into a glam soiree. Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina, set the tone for the day with its lush gardens and rustic carriage house, but Stephanie and Danny chose it for its 450-year-old oak tree. “Every time I would envision where we would be married, it was always under a huge live oak tree,” Stephanie says. “I happened upon Magnolia Plantation while looking at The Knot, and we immediately went to Charleston to look at it. We saw the 450-year-old live oak tree, and we knew this was where we were going to be married.” Vicki Van Vlerah from Flowers in the Forest worked the couple to bring all the details to life, and to create the stunning floral arrangements that added a little romance to the site. The best part, though, was Stephanie’s gorgeous Maggie Sottero pink mermaid wedding dress. “I fell madly in love with it,” Stephanie says. “This was a second marriage for both of us, and I thought the blush would be perfect, especially in a setting like Magnolia Plantation.” In keeping with the Southern plantation look, Danny looked dapper in a white dinner jacket with black dress pants and a black bow tie. It goes by incredibly fast, and you'll never feel like you're truly ready.”
