A Rustic Glam Wedding at The Pavilions at the Angus Barn in Raleigh, North Carolina
Katharine McMahon (28 and an engineer) and Nate Miller (29 and a resident) planned a rustic-glam affair with a mint, pink and gold color palette at Raleigh, North Carolina's Pavilions at the Angus Barn for their early summer wedding. Offering an intimate, natural setting in which to say their “I dos,” complete with panoramic lake views, thick forests, salmon-colored sunsets and cozy pavilions boasting exposed wooden beams and stone fireplaces, Katharine and Nate were instantly won over by Angus Barn. “We loved the idea of being able to have the ceremony and the reception in the same place, and we wanted a place where we would not have strangers walking by,” says Katharine.
The day began with a ceremony overlooking the lake; calm waters and blue skies provided a breathtaking backdrop. Bunches of pale pink flowers lined the aisle, and a wood arbor was draped in coral blooms and lush greenery. “Our close friend David was ordained for our special day, and it made our ceremony feel more personal,” says Katharine.
Cocktail hour and the reception were held back at the Pavilion, where the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed plates prepared by the venue’s award-winning catering team and danced the night away to Bull City Syndicate’s lively set list. The decor fused rustic and sophisticated styles with details like sequin-studded runners, floating candles and bunches of coral, blush and ivory roses.
A tip for the taking from Katharine: “It all comes together in the end! I had such a hard time seeing that during all of the planning, but in the end the final product was so us, and it was wonderful.”
