A Rustic Jewish Wedding at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts
Anya Taller (32, a nurse practitioner) and Evan (38, a software engineer) began their journeys separately in the suburbs of New York City. Unbeknownst to either of them, they each arrived in Montreal during the summer of 2008 after years of wandering across thousands of miles and countless time zones. They met in Montreal in 2011on the coldest day that winter. Since that fateful frosty night, they have braved (and enjoyed!) countless culinary adventures, border crossings, Jewish holidays with their families and a variety of accents and languages. After two years, they realized that the journey is so much happier, funnier, tastier and more beautiful when they are together, so Evan decided to propose, and luckily Anya said, ‘Of course!’”“We wanted to have a simple, relaxed summer wedding with a focus on love, family and friends,” Anya says. “Our wedding was on a Sunday afternoon in August so that our nieces, nephews and friends' children could share the day with us. We found a beautiful barn in Western Massachusetts which was perfect for what we wanted. After our outdoor ceremony beneath an old oak tree, our guests could enjoy the gorgeous Pioneer Valley scenery outside, or the party inside. Our invitations had a tree motif, and we made our programs ourselves.”
