Alissa McClellan (32, a radiation therapist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital) and Greg Fischer (31, a finance manager for EMD Millipore) met for the first time at a friend's Halloween party. "I had just arrived and went to grab myself a drink on the back deck, and for some reason I thought the screen door was open. It was not!" recalls Alissa. "I walked smack into it and knocked it off it's hinges, right in front of an incredibly handsome guy who turned out to be Greg!" Amused, Greg struck up a conversation with her that ended with dinner plans. "I guess he was attracted to the fact that I could laugh at myself," she says. On Christmas three years later, Greg proposed on a dock overlooking Squam Lake at the house where Alissa's family has been vacationing for 30 years—the spot where they celebrated their wedding nearly two years later. "It’s safe to say that I had always dreamed of being married there," admits Alissa. Her dream came true in the form of a waterside wedding that seamlessly blended rustic and elegant elements, like burlap and feminine shades of blush. Every detail—from their boat exit to Alissa's eco-conscious gown—reflected the vibe of the scenic New England setting they love so much.

Alissa and Greg's wedding invitations hinted at they day's lakeside location with a small dock and trees in the background.
"Since our ceremony was on an island I knew I wanted something echo-chic," says Alissa. She worked with Lindee Daniel to design her layered, A-line wedding dress made out of sustainable materials.
"We decided on very simple baby's breath boutonnieres," says Alissa. "We were looking for something simple that would go along with the theme of a rustic wedding—plus we had to save money somewhere!"

"The only flowers I absolutely had my heart set on were David Austin Roses," says Alissa. Dahlias, seeded eucalyptus and scabiosa rounded out her lush bouquet.
"My family has been vacationing on Squam Lake for almost 30 years. It’s safe to say that I had always dreamed of being married there," says Alissa. "Greg grew up spending summers in southern Maine enjoying life on the ocean, so we knew that a wedding and reception on the water would be something really special for both of us."

Alissa and Greg had their ceremony on at Chocorua Island Chapel on Church Island, located in the middle of Squam Lake. "It is a completely outdoor venue with pews that are nestled amongst the pine and birch trees," says Alissa. "We decided to keep the decorations simple since the venue holds so much natural beauty itself."

"Greg is a bit of a foodie, so for him, the menu was really one of the key focal points of the wedding," says Alissa. "He insisted that we have a fully stocked raw bar with large shrimp, littleneck clams, and oysters all served out of ice filled boats with all the accoutrements."
"We both really love to laugh and have fun and we felt that a song with a more upbeat tempo would really help start our night off on the right dancing foot!" says Alissa.
