With their love of mountain biking and the outdoors, Dawn Wieker (31 and a teacher) and Bill Cooper’s (29 and a design coordinator) fall mountain wedding was completely reflective of them. “One of the best memories Bill and I share was when we emerged on the trail through the woods to find our friends and family lining the trail with their bikes, cheering for us,” Dawn says. “The ceremony had long since ended, we had been taking photos for quite a while and the sun was setting, and they had been waiting this whole time for us. We all rode our bikes down Kebler Pass road and into Crested Butte. It was a dream come true. We paraded down the town’s main street, stopping traffic; they didn’t seem to mind and instead cheered and honked for us.” The couple had their ceremony in a grassy meadow called the Woods Walk just above Crested Butte, Colorado, because they loved the breathtaking views of the city and the yellow aspen trees during the fall. Everyone rode bikes downtown to the Secret Stash, a local pizzeria, for the reception. “Our reception location was never a question,” Dawn says. “It is by far our favorite place in Crested Butte to eat, and is ornately decorated with bright colors, eclectic items and a lively atmosphere. It fits our style perfectly.” Event planner Stephanie Prater from Princess Productions worked with the couple to bring their vision to life, and Trent and Danica Bona from Sweet Tea Studios beautifully captured all the details. One of the best parts was the ultra-local flowers from Zephryos Farm and Garden. “On our way to the wedding, we stopped by the farm and picked the flowers we wanted, which had been picked only hours before we arrived,” Dawn says. “We left with four five-gallon bucketfuls of the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen. Cutting and arranging the bouquets and centerpieces with the bridal party and family members the following morning was a really fun and memorable part of the weekend.”

“I wanted a dress that would showcase the timeless, vintage look and feel of the wedding,” Dawn says. “I always dreamed of a lace wedding dress, so I loved that my dress had an elegant lace corset. I loved how the tulle skirt allowed for movement.” She completed her look with red boots for the ceremony [since it was in a meadow], and changed into some adorable blue Mary Jane shoes for the reception.
The bridesmaids wore their own purple dresses in whatever shade and style they wanted. The groomsmen wore their own brown pants and vests, whatever shirt they wanted and purple ties. “We wanted the wedding party to wear something that reflected their own style,” Dawn says. “We gave them minimal direction. They chose their own outfits, using our color palette for direction, and the colors coordinated beautifully on the day of the wedding.”
Dawn carried dahlias, roses, hydrangeas and wildflowers in different shades of purple for her bouquet. In honor of her pheasant-hunting father, she added some feathers to her bouquet too. It was important to the couple for the flowers to be sourced locally, so they chose Zephryos in Paonia, Colorado. They stopped by the farm and got 20 gallons' worth of flowers, and created all the arrangements themselves.

“We chose to host our wedding outdoors in a grassy meadow called the Woods Walk just above the town of Crested Butte, Colorado,” Dawn says. “We chose this location because of the beautiful views [looking out to Mount Crested Butte]; it’s set in an aspen grove, which was golden yellow during our wedding; and was within walking and biking distance of the reception venue and many of our guests' lodging.”
Bill proposed with the same ring Bill’s great-grandfather gave his great-grandmother right before he left for World War I. “It is a beautiful symbol of strong commitment,” Bill says. “So much love has already been poured into the ring.” The ring had three round-cut diamonds and is surrounded by several other diamonds.

“We surprised everyone by dancing the east coast swing to 'You’re My Best Friend’ by Queen, complete with a dip at the end,” Dawn says. “It turned out great and was so much fun. Our friends still talk about it.”
