A Rustic, Nautical Wedding on Thompson Island in Boston, Massachusetts
Sara Sansoucie (29 and a project manager) and Jason Sansoucie (30 and a director of operations) had their rustic wedding on Thompson Island in Boston, where navy and gold tones added a touch of nautical inspiration. "We wanted something with a more laid-back feel," Sara says. "We told everyone it was our local destination wedding." Their photographer, Amanda McMahon Photography, captured the entire day, from the simple outdoor ceremony to the reception under the Waterfront Pavilion. Sara wore a classic, lace wedding dress with a boat neckline while her bridesmaids wore mismatched, long navy dresses. Keeping with the nautical theme, Jason wore a khaki suit with a red tie while his groomsmen wore the same khaki suits with navy ties. With their rustic, nautical theme, Sara and Jason decorated their reception with navy and gold tables with simple white hydrangeas and baby's breath centerpieces created by their florist, Blooms of Hope. They used mason jars that acted as escort cards, and their guest favors featured chalkboard labels with their names and straws with their corresponding table numbers. "The flowers, stationery and decor were all simple and understated, since we didn't want to take away from the beauty of the island," Sara says. As a final dance, Sara and Jason payed homage to Jason's fraternity when guests circled around them singing along to Billy Joel's "Piano Man." "It was a great way to end the night, all together for one last dance," Sara says.
