Tricia Luhn (36 and an epidemiologist) met Jason Clark (40 and a graduate student) at a networking event for graduate students in Atlanta. The pair dated for years, even enduring a long-distance relationship while Jason went back to school for his PhD and Tricia pursued a career opportunity in Washington, D.C. "Since we were doing long distance, I was always looking for places in the middle where we could drive to meet for a weekend and I had found this beautiful winery right on the North Carolina/Virginia border," says Tricia. "Jason proposed when we were out on the gazebo overlooking the mountains and then we got to have dinner with the owner of the winery at his house!" A year later, Tricia and Jason exchanged vows at Park Tavern in Atlanta, GA during an intimate meadow ceremony—complete with views of Piedmont Park. "It had the perfect mix of urban and rustic beauty that I was looking for in a venue," says Tricia. Despite their fall wedding date, the couple opted to work with a gray and purple color palette instead of the expected red and orange combination for their tented reception. Bare wood tables were decorated with a romantic mix of purple and clear vases. Each table had a different mix of roses, lavender, stock and hydrangeas for an eclectic feel. Ombre purple buttercream filling gave the couple's chocolate naked wedding cake a contemporary feel and a black and white dance floor set the stage for an evening of dancing.

The colorful bouquets included roses, lavender, stock and hydrangeas. "We also included some ranunculus because I thought they were beautiful and have a great texture," says Tricia.

Tricia wore a strapless silk organza gown with an asymmetric waistline. "The organza was layered in different directions that made it feel like it was waves on the beach," says Tricia.
The couple's meadow ceremony space offered romantic oak trees and stunning views of Piedmont Park.

During Tricia and Jason's intimate ceremony, their family came up and surrounded them as they passed their rings around, each making wishes for their future. "We enjoy being surrounded by our friends and family and thisrnwas a way to make our immediate family feel special and included in the ceremony," says Tricia.

The cool purple and gray color palette decorated the tented affair. "Although I got married in the fall, I knew I didn’t want to do the typical orange or red combinations of a lot of fall weddings," says Tricia.

"We wanted the flowers to have a casual feel to them, almost like garden flowers," says Tricia. "With the colors being shades of purple, we focused on a few flowers in that color scheme and included some white flowers to keep things lighter for after sunset."
