Emily and Jake Gosz planned a romantic fall fête with rustic flair for their ultra-personalized wedding at Garden Gables in Door County, Wisconsin.

“We both wanted our wedding day to feel personal, but above all we wanted everyone we invited to feel taken care of and loved,” Emily said. “For us that meant an intimate ceremony performed by someone who knew us both extremely well, an easy flow for our guests, amazing food, a killer live band, an open bar and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained and having fun throughout the entire event.”

The couple tapped their closest family members and friends to bring their vision to life. Emily’s dad handcrafted the signage and a giant Jenga set for cocktail hour; a close friend officiated the ceremony; Emily’s sister — a pastry chef — made all of the after-dinner sweets; and one of Emily’s bridesmaids did all of the calligraphy on the couple’s invitations and signage. “To top it off, we had a team of relatives and friends on hand to help us decorate and ensure that everything looked and flowed perfectly,” Emily added.

After the vows, the festivities kicked into full swing. The reception took place under a clear, open-air tent trimmed with bistro lights and a stand-out lighting installation complete with Edison bulbs and cascading bouquets. Long wood farm tables and cross-back chairs made guests feel as though they were sitting down to a family-style meal.

“Since our wedding was in September, everything was in full bloom and colorful. We really wanted to highlight burgundy, blush and green in all of our florals and since our florist grows her own flowers, everything worked together seamlessly,” explained Emily. “The bridesmaids’ bouquets were repurposed as centerpieces after the ceremony and we purchased some greens to add into the flower boxes that hung in our tent to add some life and texture to the space.”

The seven-piece band Velocity ensured guests stayed glued to the dance floor all night long. At 10 pm a food truck pulled up and treated guests to a late-night snack.

A tip for the taking from Emily and Jake: “Plan early and be decisive. Choose vendors that you trust and take help from friends and family when you can get it. Doing these things will help you to relax leading up to your big day!”
