A Rustic, Romantic Spring Wedding at Camp Lucy in Drippings Springs, Texas
Effortless romance and stunning natural scenery is what Emily (24 and a homemaker) and Jonathan Hawkins (27 and an insurance agent) had in mind when planning their spring wedding in Drippings Springs, Texas, and Camp Lucy definitely did not disappoint. With a color palette of soft gray, dusty rose and cream (and a little help from the team at Liv By Design) the couple transformed the country setting into a rustic chic dream.
The picturesque Texas Hill Country and the proximity to Austin immediately drew Emily and Jonathan to Camp Lucy, with a beautiful chapel that could host the ceremony in case of rain and the ability to host the entire event in one location adding to the appeal. “I loved that our guests would be able to enjoy the vibrancy of Austin, and then be bussed down to the ceremony and reception location, which was only 30 minutes away,” says Emily. “That way our guests didn’t have to drive from place to place.”
With sunshine and warm weather in the forecast, the couple was able to say their “I dos” on the camp’s sprawling lawn. Emily and Jonathan exchanged vows under a wedding arch draped in billowy white fabric and a sparkling chandelier, with brilliantly colored florals and lush greenery all around.
An outdoor cocktail hour followed immediately, where the newlyweds surprised guests with a beer flight bar, champagne bar, a lively performance by the band Milkdrive and an appearance by the University of Texas’s famed Longhorn mascot Bevo. “My husband loves the craft beers that are so popular around Austin and I love a good mimosa, so we took that and made a ‘his and her’s’ bar instead traditional ‘his and her’s’ drinks,” says Emily. Five of the couple’s favorite cocktails, each with its own special story, were also served during cocktail hour.
Harvest tables and French country chairs set the tone for the reception’s rustic theme, while arrangements of full ivory and blush roses and hydrangeas and gilded dinnerware lent the tablescapes an element of feminine elegance and sophistication. “Olivia and Kate from Liv By Design really understood my vision and incorporated the most beautiful flowers, stationery and decor into my big day,” says Emily. “I owe everything to their creativity.”
Emily and Jonathan continued to weave personalized elements throughout the evening, with a wedding cake that resembled the University of Texas Tower and a cigar bar with hand-rolled still rave about it, nothing compares to the love we felt by having our loved ones celebrate such a special day with us,” says Emily. “We both had family and friends come from all over the country, and reuniting with them was just incredible.”
