A Rustic Seaside Wedding at the Port Royal Club House in Hilton Head, South Carolina
Dresden Matson, 24, a pro-performance sports trainer, and Peter Muncy, 25, an Airforce officer, met each other during college during their sophomore year when Peter was dating Dresden's best friend. But it wasn't until their junior year that the two really got to know one another. "I think he actually tricked me into our first date," says Dresden. "I thought we were just going to go drive our Jeeps — which happened to match — around in the snow. But when he came to pick me up, he asked if I was hungry and wanted to go out for dinner...clever." When Peter was deployed to Iraq not long after, Dresden assumed that nothing more would come out of the relationship, but they kept in touch while he was away through Skype, letters and phone calls. "I finally realized how much he liked me when he sent me a bouquet of beautiful roses for Valentine's Day while he was deployed. I am so thankful for those months we had apart now that I realize how they helped us develop the relationship we have now," says Dresden. Once Peter returned home, the two were practically inseparable. For their wedding, the couple planned a destination affair in Hilton Head, SC, where Dresden spent summers as a child. They chose a preppy, beach-inspired theme for the day with a touch of Southern flair, selecting a navy, white and pink color palette. From the groomsmen's nautical getups, complete with navy blazer, pink pants and boat shoes to the breathtaking beachfront ceremony and blue seashell-adorned wedding cake, every detail highlighted the beautiful setting.
