Jordan Pearson (24 and works for the American Cancer Society) and Austin Bousman’s (32 and works for Summit Helicopters) wedding struck the perfect balance of country charm and spring-inspired elegance. To set the tone for the whole affair, the couple opted to host the wedding at the home of Austin’s parents in Roanoke, VA. “They have an absolutely beautiful home with spectacular views of Mcafee’s Knob,” says Jordan. “It is also unique and personal to Austin and I. We already have so many memories there, we couldn’t resist having our special day at their home.” Jordan and Austin took full advantage of the natural setting, hosting each part of the day in a different area of the expansive property. The ceremony, complete with burlap bows and baby’s breath lining the aisles, was held in the backyard, surrounded by acres of lush forest, while cocktail hour took place in the side yard, where Austin’s father built a stone patio by hand especially for the event. The rest of the evening’s festivities were hosted under a large white tent in the front yard, where guests danced the night away to modern country, ‘80s rock and classic pop hits performed by the band Project 4. Choosing a color palette of soft pastels, including peach, pink, green and white played up the spring season, while full blooms like hydrangeas, roses and peonies added a note of elegance to the outdoor affair. And mason jars, burlap ribbon and wood accents were key in bringing Jordan and Austin’s country chic vision to life. A tip for the taking from Jordan: “Pick a photographer you trust and know will be there for you to capture all of your special moments! Because our brains cannot store every memory or conversation of such an event filled day, it is vital to have a photographer that can help capture these precious moments for you! Melissa Durham could not have done a more perfect job with this for Austin and I. It was because of her talents and commitment to our wedding, that we will be able to look back and remember details from that day.”

When it came to choosing her wedding dress, Jordan headed to Patina in Roanoke. It was there that she spotted the perfect gown for rustic chic outdoor affair — a lace mermaid gown by Mori Lee. The lady-like silhouette had an ultra flattering fit and the delicate lace overlay lent the gown a touch of timeless, feminine flair. Jordan completed her wedding look with a shimmery crystal sash, which she tied around the waist, a pearl bracelet belong to her sister, a pearl necklace and a rose-shaped ring that had once belonged to her grandmother.
To celebrate the spring season, Jordan and Austin selected seasonal blooms in light, cheerful colors. For her bouquet, Jordan opted to carry a fresh mix of classic white and pale pink roses, ivory and green hydrangeas and white peonies down the aisle, the elegant bunch complementing the timeless, sophisticated feel of her dress.
To complement the cheerful spring tone of the day, Jordan chose a playful pale peach hue for her bridesmaids’ dresses. The dresses had a one-shoulder neckline and A-line silhouette that was flattering on all of the girls and a gathered bodice that introduced an element of texture and depth to the look. They paired the dresses with their own nude-colored sandals and gold jewelry form Lauren Conrad’s line that Jordan gifted them.

Jordan and Austin carefully chose all of the music for the ceremony and reception, to ensure that the right tone was set for each part of the day. For the ceremony and cocktail hour, Jordan asked her long-time friend Logan Ertel to perform. He played acoustic guitar and sang as guests arrived to the ceremony and as Jordan made her way down the aisle. During cocktail hour he played another acoustic set, incorporating tunes from artists like Ray LaMontagne, the Goo Goo Dolls and Katy Perry.
Jordan and Austin introduced the wedding’s country theme right from the get-go, incorporating rustic elements into the ceremony’s design. Along the aisle leading up to the altar where the couple would exchange vows, they placed black shepherd’s hooks, from which they hung fresh bundles of baby’s breath arranged in mason jars and big burlap bows.
When deciding on a place to host the wedding, the home of Austin’s parents in Roanoke seemed like an obvious choice to the couple. “They have an absolutely beautiful home, inside and outside, with a spectacular views of Mcafee's Knob,” says Jordan. The couple made the most of each part of the expansive property, hosting the ceremony in the backyard, surrounded by acres of lush forest, cocktail hour along the side of the house, where Austin’s father handcrafted a patio space just for the occasion, and the lively reception out on the front lawn.
On their RSVP cards, Jordan and Austin asked guests to write down a song that would get them out on the dance floor. Their friends and family obliged and on the day of the wedding, the couple pinned the song requests on a ladder for everyone to read during cocktail hour. “I loved this aspect of our wedding because it allowed everyone to see the funny comments and different song choices!” says Jordan.
Jordan and Austin struck the right balance of rustic and elegant in the design of their reception tables. Crisp white table linens were overlaid with thin panels of burlap and dotted with classic spring-inspired arrangements of white hydrangeas and pink roses displayed in mason jars. Tree slice pedestals, raffia ribbon and wooden B’s (for Bousman) solidified the rustic theme and complemented the natural setting.

To get guests out on the dance floor and shaking their stuff, Jordan and Austin hired a live band to perform during the reception. Project 4 churned out an upbeat mix of modern country, ‘80s rock and classic pop tunes that was a huge hit with the couple’s family members and friends.
After dinner, guests indulged in their choice of sweet treats before hitting the dance floor. The couple offered an array of flavorful cakes and cheesecakes, which they displayed buffet style alongside decorative rustic elements like large tree slices and mason jars filled with cheerful spring blooms like ivory hydrangeas and pink roses.
