A Rustic, Summer Wedding at Dana Powers House & Barn in San Luis Obispo, California

Dayna Lyons (26 and a recruiter at Bain & Company) and Matt Cano (28 and business school student and founder of a startup) met when she responded to an ad for a roommate that he had put on Craigslist. She didn't make the cut as his roommate but they knew there was something special between them. Dayna and Matt fell in love between their mutual clumsiness and on a wine tasting trip to Napa, Matt proposed surrounded by their closest friends and family. The San Luis Obispo area served as the ideal midway point for their guests and housed the perfect venue for their theme of rustic, summer charm. The Dana Powers House & Barn had a large outdoor area in the midst of an orange grove. The ceremony was held here, sunflowers and wildflowers decorating every surface. A lush palette of kelly green, golden yellow, and creme brightened the decor without competing against the natural beauty of the outdoors. At the reception, guests were served up signature cocktails, the drink of the bride being a zesty Moscow Mule and the groom a classic whiskey ginger. Rather than a traditional sit down dinner, Dayna and Matt had a taco bar where each guest could build their own meal. Later they were able to customize their own delicious dessert s'mores over a fire pit to the great music provided by the groom's best friend. "It was important that everyone who came could feel relaxed and just be able to enjoy their time with us." says Dayna.
