A Rustic, Waterfront Wedding at the Nest on Lake Weir in Ocklawaha, Florida

The Nest on Lake Weir in Ocklawaha, Florida, has beautiful grounds, 11 rooms for guests and a natural waterfront view. For Holly Balius (24 and a registered nurse) and Jaime Grisales’s (27 and a firefighter) rustic navy and neutral wedding, it also added a personal touch. “This was the perfect place for us,” Holly says. “Not just for the beautiful scenery, but because it was on a lake where both of us had so many great memories from growing up.” On their wedding day, a burlap runner lined the aisle as Jaime waited by the altar in a navy suit, Converse shoes and a plaid bow tie as Holly made her entrance. She wore a mermaid-style Mori Lee wedding dress covered in white lace detailing and a sweet beaded sash along the waist. Once they said “I do,” all immediately continued the celebration with an outdoor party. Guests played corn hole and took in the view as each table was set with a mason jar and black wine bottle wrapped in burlap and chevron fabric. After dinner, all were treated to a few types of sweets. Our favorite was the three-tier wedding cake. Baked by a local schoolteacher, each ivory layer was surrounded by straw and accented with green chrysanthemums as baby’s breath and the same blooms topped the confection. Innovative Memories captured every moment, as all ended the night with a sparkler exit. For future newlyweds, Holly stresses the importance of a videographer: “Now that the day is over, it's all a blur. I wish I'd had one so I could relive the day over and over again and catch all the details I missed.”
