Juli, 29 and a customer care team manager, and Jim, 31 and a pilot in the United States Air Force, dated long distance for four years after first being introduced by mutual friends. After both moved to Delaware, Jim waited until they had lived together for a year before surprising Juli with a cushion-cut engagement ring tucked under their Christmas tree. Not afraid of long-distance planning, the couple hosted a spring destination wedding in Maine at Red Barn at The Outlooks Farm. "I love the barn look and feel but since I was planning our wedding from Delaware, I didn't want to commit to a barn location that required catering and rentals," says Juli. "We looked at the Red Barn at The Outlooks Farm and it was the perfect compromise— I still got a beautiful barn look with the wood beams but we also had the convenience of a full service reception hall!" The rustic affair included a color palette of persimmon and purple with touches of turquoise and milk glass centerpieces filled with colorful wildflowers. In lieu of traditional favors, the couple made a charitable donation and gave each guests a Happy Hippo—a chocolate treat from Germany. "Since Jim is a pilot, he took many trips that stopped through Germany and would always bring these goodies home," says Juli.  "We loved them so much that we thought they would be a great way to thank our guests!"

The couple went with a color palette of persimmon and purple with touches of turquoise. "Turquoise was very limited but made it into our invitations and the cards that explaining that we made donations instead of favors," says Juli.
Juli looked timeless in an elegant lace Allure gown.
"I really loved how all the flowers turned out but especially the bouquets," says Juli. "I asked my florist for pastels and muted tones—she didn't disappoint!"

The men wore Vera Wang tuxes from Men's Warehouse with a deep purple tie and pocket square. "We didn't want black for the men's suits because we wanted it to feel a bit more casual but tan also wasn't our style," says Juli. "So we ended with a charcoal gray that we loved!"

"My step mom and dad sell antiques and their milk glass vases were the inspiration for our centerpiece," says Juli.
"Jim and I don't like being the center of attention so our first dance and cake cutting was kept short and sweet," says Juli.
In addition to a dessert table with whoopie pies, cheesecake bars and brownies, the couple cut a small buttercream cake decorated with an initials cake topper.
"Looking at countless wedding dresses in magazines, I knew I was drawn to lace and I also knew that I wanted something that wasn't strapless," says Juli.
